T33284 Premium No. 6 Fore Plane

The No. 6 Fore Plane is a versatile hand plane that is perfect for a wide range of planing tasks, including truing rough boards, smoothing surfaces, and preparing wood for finishing.

Within the Stanley numbering system, fore planes are long-length planes. At 18" long and 2-3/8" wide, the No. 6 is to be used on larger surfaces and is ideal for planing wide boards or doors.

Like all our premium Grizzly bench planes, the No. 6 fore plane incorporates a frog that extends all the way to the sole. The body and frog are made from accurately machined and graded ductile cast-iron, with the sides and sole being fully ground.

The fore plane has an adjuster that allows advancement and retraction of the blade. The blade can also adjust side-to-side with another. A fully machined fit between frog and body ensures absolute stability of the frog, providing a firm and solid surface for the cutting iron.

The accuracy of this mechanism allows for the cutting iron to be advanced to give a virtually "zero" mouth opening. This allows for the finest shavings–even on the most difficult of woods.

The blade is made from high carbon steel, hardened and tempered to 60-62 Rockwell C, and precision ground to 3mm thick. The single-piece design of the cap iron offers rigid clamping.

• Polished brass lever cap, screws, and adjusting wheel
